Roughly 2,000 fans packed the venue as Morrison, still furious after being maced backstage by police, stopped mid-song to tell the crowd exactly what happened, mocking the officers and pushing tension to the breaking point. When the house lights snapped on and his mic was cut, police stormed the stage, cuffed him in front of the audience, and sparked a mini-riot that made front pages and cemented the concert as a key moment in rock rebellion and Doors mythology.
